Luiz Lobo started working with ETC as an internal communications consultant and advisor and is now part of our community as a full-time employee. His natural ability to engage with people helped him collaborate with dozens of organizations by improving their internal, outreach, and stakeholder communications. Mr. Lobo has over 30 years of experience working in many areas of communication. Luiz is a former broadcast anchor for radio and television, weatherman, reporter, CNN International contributor. Independently, he helped produce and direct dozens of marketing videos and news stories from Antarctica, the Amazon Rain Forest, and other places in the U.S., Europe, and South America. On three separate occasions, Luiz served as a Lead Consultant for the United Nations Office For Project Services and UNDP, working to recover, lead, and manage global events.
Mr. Lobo helped write winning proposals for PBS-Iowa, managed a multimillion-dollar budget, and directed a pioneering distance learning project about the Mississipi River. He served as a digital broadcasting consultant and advisor for The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) while producing the first widescreen television live broadcast in the United States.
During his tenure at Georgetown University, he taught and advised US and international students about social media strategies and broadcasting. Mr. Lobo is passionate about technology, public speaking, public affairs, and education. He also loves cooking, mountain biking, trekking, and playing his guitar. He lives with his Brazilian wife in Bethesda, MD, and has two North American daughters living in New York and Florida.
As the CEO and President of a documentary and tour operation company, he helped create immersive survival training expeditions and ultra-races for self-development and leadership, which came from his jungle warfare training. Some of these programs included organizing and prepping risk-management, medical fly-away, and survival and rescue contingency teams.
These positions helped Luiz align with companies worldwide and hone a significant set of team-building skills, key-messaging, crisis communication, strategic thinking, and audience engagement. Mr. Lobo earned an Honors B.A. in Communication and a Master’s degree in LX Design, both from the University of Iowa. He furthered his education in professional schools for Design Thinking, and Executive Production.
