Marcus Jones has been a professor of economic and military history at the U.S. Naval Academy since 2004. As a consultant, he has extensive experience in the areas of strategic policy and science/technology policy research and analysis, program evaluation, and scenario-based portfolio analysis. He specializes in conducting mixed methods evaluations of national security, energy policy, intelligence, and naval issues. He is the author of numerous narrative analyses of historical strategic policy development and the sensitive interaction of technology with strategic and economic context, as well as co-editor of a four-volume encyclopedia of German military history. He is particularly well-suited to synthesize, simplify, clarify and define complex issues, develop policy alternatives, and assess political constraints, and characterize economic costs and trade-offs. He is fluent in German and has research fluency in French and Russian. Dr. Jones earned his PhD at Yale University in 2005.
